Pumpkin Dessert Squares

Our mall used to have a Williams Sonoma store, and I loved going in there.  I remember sampling their pumpkin dessert squares and buying their Pumpkin Pecan Butter so I could go home and make the dessert. The store is no longer there, and lo and behold, I have my own Pumpkin Butter now. No pecans, but hey. I've never really thought pecans belonged in desserts anyway.  That's just me. So here is the famous recipe, and you can use Adams Apple Co. Pumpkin Butter! Add chopped pecans if you'd like!

  • (18 ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1cup butter melted
  • 1 jar of Adams Apple Co Pumpkin Butter
  • 3 eggs
  • tablespoon all purpose flour
  • 1cup sugar
  • 1cup butter, softened
  • tablespoons milk
  • teaspoon cinnamon
  • finely chopped pecans (optional)
  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Reserve 1 cup of cake mix and set aside.
  3. Mix remaining cake with with 1/2 cup melted butter and 1 egg. Press mixture lightly into the bottom of a 13" x 9" baking dish.
  4. Mix one jar of pumpkin butter with remaining two eggs and milk, and pour over cake mixture in pan.
  5. Mix remaining 1 cup cake mix with flour, sugar, remaining 1/4 cup butter, and cinnamon (add in pecans here if you want), and crumble over the top of the pumpkin layer.
  6. Bake 35-40 minutes, or until golden.
  7. Cool to room temp and serve.
